For those who'd like to have the original artwork: logo's, font, and other stuff.

Here they are:

What is the license for those fonts? AFIA, they're not free.

No licencing whatsoever.
Never got the time to bother about it. So, use it if you want...or not.

Hi,

I imagine that this should be the last of your priorities. But, since I work with design, I took the liberty to make a sketch a suggestion for the logo of SolydXK. It's just a sketch, but I think it illustrates the idea.

(requires the Big Caslon Medium font)

I like your designs.
However, our logo's are the official logo's.
We prefer that SolydXK is publicly recognizable by that logo.

Indeed nice design!

But I understand Schoelje's point of view given the rationale behind - and the (young) age of this distro.

In designer's jargon we distinguish between a Logo illustration and a Logo signet.

An illustration could be for example kind of 3D like the "official" Logos, and what blau presented is a signet.

Those cathegories don't concurrent, but complement.

signets are used for stamps and other formats where gradients are not available (sticker-outlines, plotting, ...) and illustrations for graphics like the header of the page.

Although i appreciate the approach of blau, i think those circle parts should not have round corners.

As for your inquiry by PM, I'm afraid I need to repeat my previous post:

However, our logo's are the official logo's.
We prefer that SolydXK is publicly recognizable by that logo.

It also reminds me of the Mint Update icon (also used in Solyd of course). ;)

Did you mean "wouldn’t do any harm"?

Edit: Scrap that. My mistake, I mis-read that part of your post.

Please, stop sending me PM's about this subject.

I find it a ridiculous assumption to state that I have an emotional relationship with our logo. I also find it presumptuous to insinuate that you are the person to know what is best for SolydXK. It is obvious that you miss the business, and marketing implications of your suggested change. Moreover, the SolydXK team has not announced a request for such a change.

Locking this topic.
