Ray
you're still facing this http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php? ... 9185#p9185 problem?
but to directly answer your question: no, you don't need to be using the latest kernel in order to perform this or future UP's; you do need tho to have it installed and keep updating it (even if in real life usage you are only using the 3.2 version)
zerozero,

My query was partially answered when I read that the UP was for the testing crew not for the 'plebs :D'. I haven't tried the 3.9 kernel on my vm figuring that nothing had changed, however that said I think I'll clone this vm and use the clone to test with the 3.9 kernel.

Hi,

the second round of updates is available in siduction's kdenext solydk suite. It seems ready to be part the UP.

We also have already a fixed opus, but it's not available yet.

Santa has finished on KDE 4.10.5 !
For KDE testers, make sure your /etc/apt/sources.list looks like this:

Code: Select all

deb http://debian.solydxk.com/testing/multimedia testing main non-free

the 2 issues above (kwin-style-dekorator and kdevelop) i believe that are caused by:
- in the first (kwin-style-dekorator) the fixed version should be already scheduled http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepor ... =707018#77 but is not yet in debian http://packages.debian.org/search?searc ... -dekorator

- in the second (kdevelop) the transition is scheduled http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=716994 but not finished

Code: Select all

zerozero@home ~ $ apt policy kdevelop
kdevelop:
  Installed: 4:4.3.1-3+b1

or is it possible to install it afterwards? we will see ...

I'm running my main system now with KDE 4.10.5 !
I had only one very minor glitch: after reboot the desktop was set to another activity, but that was very easily changed.

Can somebody tell me what are the benefits, and new features of this latest KDE?
We could use that to blog when we release the new UP.

In the mean time I'm updating the iso's, and I will have a "multi DVD" with these versions as well.

OBTW - that's a very good thing!

Really looking forward to the UP!

Just finished a smooth upgrade of my SolydK install. I used the update manager, 167 updates, 100 mb.
It took 12 mins including a reboot. Mine also came up in a different activity like Schoelje.
No real problems. :D

Santa has just uploaded a patched kdevelop.
According to him, kwin-style-dekorator should be removed.

Does a symlink suffice, or does it need to be a mv?

the issues in the picture above are (i'm almost sure now) theme related.
once i restored to defaults and rebooted those issues went away; after that i managed to reconstruct almost all the previous desktop again (except bespin, this one triggers the tearing)

re: ia32-libs: this installs has some time and i have no idea why it was installed but it's not needed and can/will cause troubles sooner than later. don't regret it's gone  and all the MIA were recovered

the only issue so far that i couldn't solve is scrolling in synaptic: just doesn't happen. anyone can replicate it?
I have the same issue with scrolling in synaptic. The only way I could get it to scroll is to have mouse pointer over the scroll bar and it will work. Also in apper the kde apps icon is gone.

After the upgrade Thunar does not list my NAS on the network anymore.
If I type "smb://" in the location bar, "WORKGROUP" is listed.
WORKGROUP only lists the system itself (SOLYDX).
If I type "smb://mynas", I can read the NAS, but cannot copy files.
If I run the previous version of SolydX, there's no problem.

Dolphin doesn't have this problem.

Can anybody confirm this?

[EDIT]
This is in VB.
On my mini laptop I don't have these issues.

[EDIT2]
On second thought: this is a non-issue - just forget it.
