Very neat toy. I will echo the others comments and requests. So far working as advertized. :)

Love the file download to PC and clipboard functionality. Haven't tried the remote control option. Haven't been playing media on my phones.

Samsung Galaxy S and S II (Skyrocket) with cyanogenmod android version 4.1.2.

Ok, so i have a samsung galaxy tab 3 t217s that is androis 4.2 i believe and it doesn't pair with the device.

I have an icon in the kde system icons on the task bar.

i did install the update from the local repositories...

kde connect runs on the tab but it shows no paired devices
the kde system icon also shows no paired devices.

is its function restricted to phones?

im running the stock rom on the t217s

Hi lizbeth,

I'm pretty sure it's not restricted to phones.

Are you by any chance running a firewall on your laptop?

I Tried to use kdeconnect for the 2nd time on this phone.
Nexus5 with Android 4.4.2
SolydK from the 201311 iso fully updated in testing, including kde 4.12.
No firewall.
The phone never saw the computer so that i coud send a pair request.
I tried with the computer connected to the router wirelessly, wired and both, and had no luck.

Smitty, the only recommendation I can make is to make sure you have rebooted both machines, after loading the KDE Connect widget onto the KDE panel and running the app once on the phone.

I'm not sure if it will help or not, but rebooting and making sure the app is loading at startup would be a place to start.

Thanks for your reply, but unfortunately it didn't work. I rebooted both the computer and the phone but still no go. This thing only marginally interested me so I uninstalled.

I found that trying to pair the devices only works when initiated from the computer. when initiated from the android device the device reports being paired but the computer does not.

I am trying to pair my Nexus 4 with SolydK, but I can not get the units to find each other.

I think the problem is caused by the firewall. I found out that KDE Connect shall be using port 1714 – 1764.

I can not get System Settings -> Firewall to add any rules. Just get message, failed to insert rule.

Could someone advice me the terminal commands to add firewall rules, to get KDE Connect to work.

I installed KDEConnect on SolydK 64-bit and downloaded the app to my Android 4.2 phone. I already paired it via BlueDevil. When I go into system settings, there's a blank. Nothing listed. The widget in KDE shows no paired devices (BlueDevil shows my phone is paired). On the KDE Connect on the phone, nothing shown as paired. In the Bluetooth settings it shows my SolydXK machine as paired. I even refreshed the KDEConnect (sync icon) and nothing still.

Bluetooth is turned on in both the phone and the computer.

What did I miss? What should I check?

I updated the android KDE Connect app the other day.

Changelog on Google Play

0.6.1:
- Browse the phone filesystem from your computer. (Requires the latest version of the desktop client compiled from git master!)
- Control the MPRIS volume using the hardware keys on your phone.

meaning that those features don't work with the version available at the moment in the repos?
i plan in update the app (and others) in time for the next UP.

Hi guys, need help with setting the firewall to allow connection to my phone with kitkat 4.4.4

If I disable firewall, it connects straight away and stays connected when I enable firewall right back again, but not when firewall is up from start

I never got KDEConnect to work at all. Never even seen any of my devices, firewall or not.

However, if you want to try it, try to find the IP address (NOT the MAC address) to your phone. Then you want to set firewall rules to allow those IP addresses in/out. I don't know how you'd find the IP to your phone though. Most phones only give you the MAC address.

if you are connected to a wifi, your router login should give you the ip adresses of all the devices on your network. Simple enough to find out unless you use an arris wifi cable modem or something equivalent that doesnt have a user login. most every wifi router can be accessed from your network by opening a web page and going to 192.168.1.1 and entering the admin and password. if you have never done this the admin and password are likely admin and password. some of the modems comcast uses have the log in at 10.0.0.1 with admin and password being admin and password until you change them. Most companies are the same. Using the wifi router from isp, rcn its much the same. of course i alter mine from the defaults and you should probably too. TMI?

just to let you know, that helped, it doubles the FW rules now, one for IPv4 one for IPv6, which is pretty confusing but at least it works now

thank you
