I have reinstalled and updated a VB with Debian Testing.
All seems to be fine at the moment.

Can anyone here verify this problem I am having:
See this post;
http://forums.solydxk.com/viewtopic.php ... 790#p34924

On my system it has something to do with using libreoffice-kde package.
When that is installed I lock up . Remove it and i am ok.
Also installing libreoffice-gtk seems to work ok.
I am running KDE 64bit on the Debian Testing.

Lireoffice still buggy from debian testing but I removed it and downloaded LibreOffice_4.2.4_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz from the libreoffice homepage and all seems to be working normal again. Im sure if I waited a few days debian would have had a fix. So far everything else is working except constructor which is not from debians repo's. :D

Updates over last few days want to remove gdebi-kde, python3-pykde4, and software-properties-kde. Problems seem to be python updates. Updated all but python packages and all seems good. New kernel:3.14.4-1 and updated NVIDIA 331.67-2. :P

KDM and several KDE packages in todays updates. Python still wants to remove several things so used aptitude and can't login to KDE now. One reason I like having another desktop installed. Mate is still funcional till I get KDE working again. :o

Yep I have xfce installed along with KDE for such issues.
Always fun in testing.

Updates today still give this:
The following packages have been kept back:
python-qt4 python-qt4-phonon python-qt4-sql python-sip

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
python-kde4 : Depends: sip-api-10.1 which is a virtual package.
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

Remove the following packages:
1) kajongg
2) plasma-scriptengine-python
3) plasma-widget-facebook
4) plasma-widget-veromix
5) python-kde4
6) userconfig
Looks like siductions forum noted the problem arournd 5-15-2014 and Santa rebiult python-kde4 to correct the issue. Looks like I will have to wait for a fix.

Looks like updates today fixed the KDE problem. Nice to be able to log back in to KDE. KDE 4.13-1 parts trickling down into debian testing. :D

Looks like more trouble today if you do apt-get dist-upgrade due to libpython3-stdlib
and python3-minimal. They want to remove:
aptdaemon dh-python epson-escpr gdebi gdebi-core gdebi-kde gedit kcm-ufw
openprinting-ppds printer-driver-all-enforce printer-driver-dymo
printer-driver-escpr printer-driver-foo2zjs printer-driver-foo2zjs-common
printer-driver-m2300w printer-driver-postscript-hp printer-driver-ptouch
printer-driver-pxljr pyppd python-software-properties python3 python3-apt
python3-aptdaemon python3-cairo python3-chardet python3-dbus python3-debian
python3-defer python3-gi python3-gi-cairo python3-pkg-resources
python3-pyinotify python3-pykde4 python3-pyqt4 python3-pyqt4.phonon
python3-schroot python3-sip python3-six python3-software-properties
solydxk-constructor ufw unattended-upgrades updatemanager.
I update all but those two packages and all is good, The python packages over last couple weeks sure do want to do damage.

let's wait a lil bit longer. that removal issue was due to python 3.3 to 3.4 transition. I got no issue in my xfce end.

I've updated all but libpython3-stdlib, python3, and python3-minimal. So far no problems but those. I'm sure it will be fixed within a week or so. Curiosity is the main reason I'm following debian testing and Sid was too much work for me. :D

Maybl8 It might be a good bit of info to look back on to see whats making its way into debian testing for those who are curious about what to look forward to in next up. I'm still updating to testing but have had to be selective due to some python packages that want to remove a lot of important stuff. I'm now at 8 python packages while waiting for a fix. This mornings libc6, locales and related where tricky and wanted newer glibc that wasn't available. All seems to be working so far so wiil keep rolling unless it breaks.

I already fully upgraded my system last night but new libc6 doesn't say anything about missing dependency.

Well since kurotsugi had no problems I decided to upgrade another computer with solydk to debian testing to see if there was any differances.I was able to fully upgrade without any problems but I did have to give up gdebi-kde. Figure I can install packages through terminal if needed. Libc6 install asked if I wanted to update glibc and went thru with no problems when I selected yes. Strange how one install can differ from another. :)

I could install gdebi-kde after dist-upgrade without a problem.

As with every ISO build I always check for installed packages that are not available anymore in the repositories:

Code: Select all

apt-show-versions | grep 'No available version' | cut -d':' -f 1
If you purge those packages, it get's interesting (at least in my case)...
...systemd is pulled in as a dependency, and hal is removed.
