I saw rhe report on your upload. So, I've dowloaded those yesterday. I'll check SokydX32 later today.

I've done SolydX 32-bit as well.
No issues. Identical to K32.

Uploading a single EE ISO (SolydX EE 64) now. Should be available just after 20:00 CET/19:00 UTC.

This one does not have the VirtualBox guest additions, but the virtualbox.list file and public key mentioned here are installed.

Also, the theme used isn't greybird-solydx but the normal Greybird, so things may look a little different (like input boxes actually showing up...).

Some more info here: viewtopic.php?f=78&t=5961&p=63856#p63856

Edit
Forgot to mention: this ISO has prism2-usb-firmware-installer, curl and gnupg2 from unstable, to handle the Community ISO maintenance and build issues #14, #18 and #19.

Two SolydX EE ISOs have been uploaded: http://downloads.solydxk.nl/ce/testing/

SolydK will require more work.

The uploaded ISOs have a small script in /usr/local/bin called vboxguest. If you want to install in a VirtualBox virtual machine, you can install the guest additions by running this script in a terminal. It must be run in an installed SolydX, inside the guest. Ideally, the SolydXK Welcome application should have some info about this, but this has not been implemented at this time.

Edit
Just in case people missed this: Debian no longer provides a virtualbox package in Stretch. However, a package virtualbox-5.1 will show up in (e.g.) Synaptic if you run these new ISOs, because Oracle's virtualbox repository for Debian Stretch has been added in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/virtualbox.list.
You can also find virtualbox packages here: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads

Re: New ISOs in ce/testing

I'm now working on SolydX64 EE.

@grizzler:
I propose to include these packages from sid in our solydxk-9 repository:
  • virtualbox-guest-x11
  • virtualbox-guest-dkms
  • virtualbox-guest-utils
This will greatly improve the live experience in VB.
Uploading them to the solydxk-9 repository separates the packages from the solydxk-8 packages used for our current jessie ISOs in our repository.
The deb line will look like this:

Code: Select all

deb http://repository.solydxk.com/ solydxk-9 main upstream import
I'm also separating the solydx/k-info packages to prepare for the time when we have both jessie and stretch based ISOs. In testing I now have these packages to test:
  • solydx/k-info (transitional package)
  • solydx/kee-info (transitional package)
  • solydx/k-info-8/9
  • solydxk-system (will remove solydx/k(ee)-info package when the solydx/k-info-8/9 packages have been installed)
I also had to re-install live-installer-3: I couldn't log in as the live user with our default password "solydxk".

"apt download package" gives this error (repeated endlessly):

Code: Select all

E: Command line option 'r' [from -r] is not understood in combination with the other options.
Executing 'apt -r download'
Just putting it here as a personal reminder.

Tomorrow I'll start working on the Greybird theme but I don't know how long that is going to take (will that new version also work in the jessie based ISOs?).

Uploading 32-bit ISOs (SolydK-8 and X-8) now. Should make it to http://downloads.solydxk.nl/ce/testing/ at the top of the hour (16:00 CET / 15:00 UTC).

The EE ISOs should follow later today or tomorrow.

Not tested apart from a very quick check of the live system in a VM.

@Arjen,
Could you remove the January SolydX EE ISOs from ce/testing please? I seem to remember these weren't really useable.

Thanks.

I've just started the EE ISO upload. They take about 20 minutes each, so it will probably be 20:00 CET (19:00 UTC) before all four are visible in ce/testing.

Thanks.

I assume you'll see the same issues with the 32 bit EE. Unsurprisingly, I'm also seeing them here if I run the your SolydK 9 ISO (the 18 March version) live in a VM. Not the enumerate error about /var/lib/lightdm/data or the X11 connection breaking, but all the others, including the XCB error in .xsession-errors.

On my main system /var/lib/lightdm/data has owner:group lightdm:lightdm, by the way, so a simple sudo mkdir may not be enough.

Edit
I did a quick web search for the XCB error. This is about an entirely different setup, but the explanation given seems to suggest it's the application just started that causes it (kate in my case).

I just found out that I cannot boot the new ISOs when installed on a SSD in VirtualBox. It keeps on rebooting just after Grub. There's no problem with the old ISOs.

I've tried with several versions of VB.

Well, that's a new one... :?

Does the second menu entry ("safe") or removing the quiet and splash options from the kernel line before booting show enough text on screen to figure out what's happening?
