But...then I don't understand why my SolydXK 11 ISOs don't have that problem.

Would you like to compare them?

Shall I move console-setup-patch to production?

Do these two issues show up in EE too?

gufw starts without error, but luckybackup doesn't. Seems to be the same issue.

Code: Select all

isotest@vbox:~$ luckybackup-pkexec
qt.qpa.xcb: could not connect to display
qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found.
This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, xcb.

I have updated solydxk-system with a luckybackup policy for policykit.
This solves the luckybackup super user issue.

Great, thanks Arjen.

The XFCE-theming topic is also reaching interesting results

viewtopic.php?f=79&t=7834#p72283 has a fix for the menu file and for the dark theme font issue - if that last one is a good idea, I don't know, I don't use dark themes.

viewtopic.php?f=79&t=7834#p72298 - please chime in if that was not an copy-paste accident.
Important: /usr/share/themes/Breeze-X/index.theme in its present state needs to be removed
/usr/share/themes/Breeze-Dark-X/index.theme needs to be replaced. Rademes improved the file and I did some more changes - see attached file. It could serve as a pattern for all breeze themes.
We decided to never translate "Breeze" because it's a name. For non-latin scripts it would be easier if it was called Breeze-X-Dark and not the other way round but that's probably not worth the trouble.

These files don't exist in the current ISOs in ce/testing. If that is incorrect, then I assume the packages in the SolydXK-11 repository are incomplete.

I cannot change the font color in ~/gtkrc-xfce (/etc/skel/gtkrc-xfce) because then fonts would not be visible in the default bright theme.

I cannot change /etc/xdg/menus/xfce-applications.menu because it is provided by libgarcon-common. However, I can adapt /etc/skel/.config/menus/xfce-applications.menu which is provided by the solydx-system-adjustments-10/11 packages.

The index.theme file is part of the Breeze-Dark-X theme of the breeze-x-gtk-theme package. I see that this package is also installed on the EEs in ce/testing. I will update the index.theme file for Breeze-Dark-X.

To fix the eject live medium prompt on shutdown we need to install the live-tools package on the ISOs.

Did I miss anything else?

What puzzles me is the breeze-x-gtk-theme package (on my main system and on the EEs) doesn't contain any index.theme files. At all. I don't see them in the solydxk-system or solydx-system-adjustments-11 packages either.
Where did these files come from / go to?

Aha, I see that solydxk-11 is still on breeze-x-gtk-theme 0.1.0 while solydxk-10 is on 0.1.1...my bad.
I have uploaded version 0.1.2 with the new index.theme.

The no-eject is a major annoyance for people who install lots of machines so fixing it would be great.

Regarding translations: I've had a look at SolydK in different languages and saw that, while KDE stuff is translated, Solydxk stuff is not. It's obviously not the system xfce uses. This is probably not really important, I was just wondering - is there a central file for translations that could be put on transifex?

Removing the menu indent is not important but since Rademes invested time to find the cause, lets do it.
And leave the fonts as they are - I checked that the contrast is ok with the default background. It's a shortcoming of xfce that the setting is not exposed in the menu. We can't fix everything.

No, I'm afraid not. Every software developer is responsible for his/her own translations. Our application translations are managed by Transifex.

While I was working on changing the index.theme files for Breeze-X and Breeze-Dark-X I noticed that only Adwaita and Breeze are listed in SolydX EE.

SolydX 10 (what I would expect to see)

SolydX EE (missing a lot of themes)

I have tried to find out why all the other themes in /usr/share/themes are not listed but I couldn't find that out.

It's the same on my main machine and your SolydX 11 ISO. I'm not sure how much gtk2 is still supported by Xfce 4.14. This page suggests only showing gtk3 themes in the Appearance box was actually meant for 4.15. Maybe something got backported?

Edit
...not sure how much gtk2...
Not a lot, it seems...
http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/201 ... rted-gtk3/

It will be completely gone in 4.16

I know but the themes translations are not there, neither for SolydX (its themes.index) nor for SolydK (no idea where?). Do you know where on KDE the themes get translated? It's not a major issue, I just want to learn about KDE setup.

Themes in EE:
- it seems that gtk2-engines-xfce has the missing themes - no version for bullseye. The version in sid is unofficial - time to drop it?
- xfwm4-themes has no version for bullseye, not even for buster.
- "only show Gtk themes that support Gtk3 in the “Appearance” dialog" (4.15, but maybe already in 4.14?)
- XFCE 4.14 changed to something named CSD, maybe the older themes became incompatible?

That being said, do we really need to ship all those old xfce themes? I fiddled around with some of them and realized that most don't work correctly because they don't have a corresponding xfwm setting. And the longer the list the more things get confusing for the user. If a user wants to install custom stuff from sites like xfce-look its better if the list is not already cluttered. 4 clear options we can actually offer support for (or are working well together like Adwaita) seem better to me.

In the themes directories I had gtk-3.18 and gtk-3.2.0 sub-directories with their corresponding css files.

I only had to remove gtk-3.18 and rename gtk-3.2.0 to gtk-3.0 and the themes were listed in SolydX EE (breeze-x-gtk-theme updated again).
Unfortunately, settings in the index.theme like IconTheme, etc. do not seem to work. You still have to manually change icons, fonts and cursor.

I could place those index.theme translations into Transifex. I don't know how, yet. So, it can take a while before that happens.

I don't know anything about KDE translations either, sorry I can't help you with that.
