I use the GNOME-Brave icon set (imported, not native to SolydXK), and I'm seeing <no> problems with icons.

I (for some unknown reason) decided to run ddm again, and it found the video card, but then decided the installed driver was:

Unknown driver
Unknown driver found
Please remove before installing drovers with DDM

The activated driver shows nvidia, but it's not listed (and checked) in Alternative drivers, just nouveau, fbdrv and vesa.

The nvidia driver is indeed installed and functioning according to inxi:
Graphics: Card NVIDIA G86 [GeForce 8400M GS] X.Org 1.12.4 Res: 1440x900@60.1hz
GLX Renderer GeForce 8400M GS/PCIe/SSE2 GLX Version 3.3.0 NVIDIA 304.88
run ddm in the terminal with debug flag

Code: Select all

ddm -d
and upload the ddm.log found in home (you have to rename it to odt)
Same here:

I have the same issue. DDM does not show my Nvidia card or driver which I know are working because I have dual monitors (among other settings) that would not be working without them. It also shows that I do not have PAE installed and I do. If you need specifics on my system I will be happy to provide them, but for now I think DDM is not working. Am I correct in thinking it is because GTK is broken as Schoelje said earlier?

As ZeroZero said here:

http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php? ... t=50#p7369

I also get this change in Firefox 21. The Firefox Icon seems to be the only one missing so far and it is missing from both the panel launcher and the menu.

This is a feature, not a bug, as far as I'm concerned.

Could this explain the loss of the Firefox Icon?

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/quest ... x&r=3&as=s
Chosen solution by jnorden: The directory structure, at least for linux, seems to have changed for version 21. I have my firefox distribution in /opt/firefox/, and up to now I've keep the flash plugin in /opt/firefox/plugins/. With vers 21, the plugin directory should be /opt/firefox/browser/plugins/ This directory doesn't exist by default. You can create it or just mv the old plugin directory to the new location

$ cd /opt/firefox/ #(or wherever your firefox is installed) $ mv plugins/ browser/

The icons/ directory has also been moved into this sub-directory, which is why my firefox desktop button was not displayed correctly after the update.
I tried copying the icon folder from /opt/firefox to /opt/firefox/browser, but it did not do anything. I do not know how it all works. Is there a way to get the icon location recognized?

I've added some breakages to the OP.
Please, add breakages to the OP (with reference URL). That'll make solving the issues a bit easier.

Hi 'z'... :)
Yes, I did that with same results. Something is broken in my XFCE, and its probably something I did in my 'tweaking'... , as no one else seems to have this issues. I did some 'googling' with no hints. Searched a couple of other forums. Again it seems to be just ME... ..This install was pretty hacked up. I am going again to re-install a B4-this UP clone, wait for the new iso. and make a fresh install tracking UP's. That seems the best option, as this install is not really helping much in testing..

I saw there's a new UM this morning and took it, and then saw almost 40 upgrades to take.

Code: Select all

39 upgraded, 4 newly installed, 2 to remove and 2 not upgraded.
Looking at the list of packages I see a bunch of LO upgrades in the list of available upgrades.

Code: Select all

The following packages will be REMOVED:
  libexttextcat0 libgraphite2-2.0.0
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  libboost-date-time1.53.0 libexttextcat-2.0-0 libgraphite2-3
  libhsqldb1.8.0-java
The following packages have been kept back:
  python-qt4 python-sip
The following packages will be upgraded:
  firefox fonts-opensymbol libcdr-0.0-0 libcmis-0.3-3 libexttextcat-data
  libgstreamer-plugins-base1.0-0 libgstreamer1.0-0 liblangtag-common

39 upgraded, 4 newly installed, 2 to remove and 2 not upgraded.
Need to get 108 MB of archives.
After this operation, 3,460 kB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]?
I'm surprised to see firefox in that group, especially in the light of a policy report

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt policy firefox
firefox:
  Installed: 21.0

I'm guessing a fix went in to the problems reported since we started this round of testing yesterday, but then I got a problem with the package.

When I tried the upgrade again with --fix-missing I was able to complete the rest of the upgrade, with the exception of firefox.

Update

I solved the GTK/icons issue:
before dist-upgrade, you need to upgrade libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 first:

Code: Select all

solydxk solydxk # apt-get install libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
  gir1.2-glib-2.0 glib-networking glib-networking-common
  glib-networking-services libc-dev-bin libc6 libc6:i386 libc6-dev libc6-i386
  libc6-i686:i386 libffi6 libgdk-pixbuf2.0-common libgirepository-1.0-1
  libglib2.0-0 locales python-gi
Suggested packages:
  glibc-doc glibc-doc:i386 locales:i386 python-gi-cairo
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  libffi6
The following packages will be upgraded:
  gir1.2-glib-2.0 glib-networking glib-networking-common
  glib-networking-services libc-dev-bin libc6 libc6:i386 libc6-dev libc6-i386
  libc6-i686:i386 libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 libgdk-pixbuf2.0-common
  libgirepository-1.0-1 libglib2.0-0 locales python-gi
16 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 681 not upgraded.
Need to get 24.8 MB of archives.
After this operation, 3,411 kB of additional disk space will be used.
I am now uploading new versions of Firefox. It seems that Mozilla in all her wisdom, has changed the directory structure of the source
I had to change the Python code that automates the building of all the packages. I also had to repair the missing menu icon with a symbolic link, and I changed the search engines while I was at it.

I also downgraded Alacarte, and resolved the initial error message.

I'm in the process of uploading all the files to our testing repository, but that can take a while, and in the mean time I cannot look at DDM: I'd have to restart into another system, and that'll break the upload...just another 4 and a half days to go...

Just updated: libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 on Thinkpad Laptop on 32bit SolydX.

Code: Select all

cjtx2@cjtx2-thinkpadt42:~$ sudo apt-get install libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0
[sudo] password for cjtx2:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 14 not upgraded.
Would I have already had it in Xfce? or did I do something wrong? Can I go ahead and do the update now?

Building new machine named Garfield II & still using an old T42 Thinkpad that's old and slow, but just keeps on going and going . . . sorta like me!

First, check in /etc/apt/sources.list if you're pointing to testing, then do an "apt-get update".

Policy looks like this:

Code: Select all

solydxk@solydxk ~ $ apt-cache policy libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0
libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0:
  Installed: 2.28.1-1
  Candidate: 2.28.1-1
  Version table:
 *** 2.28.1-1 0
        500 http://debian.solydxk.com/testing/ testing/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I just upgraded SolydK 64 with UM: no errors, no warnings...smooth as silk.
Now up to DDM...

[EDIT]
OP updated.

I'm still not having any problems with LO on SolydK 32-bit after updates.
