Breeze themes do not respect panel plugin color settings ...

Postby ilu » 21 Jun 2018 23:09

Breeze-X theme does not respect networkmonitor and system plugin color settings while XFCE themes do. One might consider this a feature since Adwaita does the same but Adwaita is Gnome and reducing user choice is never good. It's also annoying that there's no color difference in between inbound and outbound traffic and between system/ram/swap. These plugins get almost useless.

Does anybody have an idea where these theme settings are?

The Breeze-X themes are provided by gtk3-engines-breeze-x
The themes are found here: /usr/share/themes/
and are called Breeze-X and Breeze-Dark-X

I have no idea about themes. From the themes I have installed only oxygen, breeze and adwaita (and their descendants) don't respect the color picker. I'm trying to figure out what they do wrong. Also grey/bluebird has it right, greybird-solydx has it wrong.

It's the progressbar-bar asset that overwrites the color picked by the plugin. I have no idea how to make a theme not affect a particular plugin.

Murrina themes have this snippet, but without it Murrina still works ok, so its not the right one

Code: Select all

#Don't animate panel plugin progress bars
style "panel"
{
    engine "murrine"
        { animation=FALSE }
}
Searching the internet also did not bring up anything useful to help me understand.
