[SOLVED] Updatemanager Problem After Update

Postby wildman » 25 Dec 2014 20:03

Last night I did some security updates. The updatemanager now constantly shows this tray icon indicating an update is available:

Running updatemanager shows my system is up to date.

Here is the entry from /var/log/apt/history.log showing what was upgraded:

Code: Select all

Start-Date: 2014-12-24  22:02:52
Commandline: apt-get --assume-yes -o Dpkg::Options::=--force-confdef -o Dpkg::Options::=--force-confold --force-yes dist-upgrade
Upgrade: bind9-host:amd64 (9.9.5.dfsg-4, 9.9.5.dfsg-7), liblwres90:amd64 (9.9.5.dfsg-4, 9.9.5.dfsg-7), host:amd64 (9.9.5.dfsg-4, 9.9.5.dfsg-7), libdns100:amd64 (9.9.5.dfsg-4, 9.9.5.dfsg-7), libisccfg90:amd64 (9.9.5.dfsg-4, 9.9.5.dfsg-7), libbind9-90:amd64 (9.9.5.dfsg-4, 9.9.5.dfsg-7), xserver-xorg-core:amd64 (1.16.1-1, 1.16.2.901-1), dnsutils:amd64 (9.9.5.dfsg-4, 9.9.5.dfsg-7), xserver-common:amd64 (1.16.1-1, 1.16.2.901-1), ntp:amd64 (4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3, 4.2.6.p5+dfsg-3.2), libisccc90:amd64 (9.9.5.dfsg-4, 9.9.5.dfsg-7), libisc95:amd64 (9.9.5.dfsg-4, 9.9.5.dfsg-7)
End-Date: 2014-12-24  22:03:14
After updating apt-get, I get this:

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt-get -s dist-upgrade
[sudo] password for user:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Done
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
However, I also get this:

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt-get -f install
[sudo] password for user:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
That says a package was not upgraded???

I also tried this but it didn't help:

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg --configure -a
Any suggestions anyone?

Does

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get -s dist-upgrade
mention any packages that have been kept back?

same problem on solydx (32/64 bits).

Seems to be a dependency problem with 'libxcb-keysyms1' for the package 'xserver-xephyr'

Code: Select all

thierry@pc-thierry:~$ sudo aptitude search '~U'
i   xserver-xephyr                  - nested X server

Code: Select all

thierry@pc-thierry:~$ sudo apt-get install xserver-xephyr

Les paquets suivants contiennent des dépendances non satisfaites :
 xserver-xephyr : Dépend: libxcb-keysyms1 (>= 0.4.0) mais 0.3.9-2 devra être installé
E: Impossible de corriger les problèmes, des paquets défectueux sont en mode « garder en l'état ».

Yes, I seem to have missed that one. I'll upload the xcb packages to the Security Repo in a moment.

They should be available around midnight CET (next full hour).

It looks like that wants perl 5.20.1-3 (I only recently uploaded 5.20.1-2 because that was required by something... :( ). I'll run some checks later today to make sure 5.20.1-3 doesn't break anything.

Edit 09:45 CET
Seems OK. Uploading perl 5.20.1-3 now.
