journalctl warnings

Postby ilu » 30 Jul 2018 16:09

I'm currently going through the failed messages in journalctl.

1. avahi-daemon gets lost

Code: Select all

avahi-daemon[...]: chroot.c: open() failed: No such file or directory
I think this is debian bug https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo ... bug=872698. The bug report contains a fix. Add After=network-online.target to /lib/systemd/system/avahi-daemon.service:

Code: Select all

[Unit]
Description=Avahi mDNS/DNS-SD Stack
After=network-online.target
Requires=avahi-daemon.socket
Apparently NetworkManager-wait-online.service must be enable for this to work which on our system seems to already be enabled:
[/quote]
... which seems to be the case.

Code: Select all

systemctl status NetworkManager-wait-online.service
● NetworkManager-wait-online.service - Network Manager Wait Online
   Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/NetworkManager-wait-online.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled)
   Active: active (exited) since Mon 2018-07-30 17:22:20 CEST; 37min ago
     Docs: man:nm-online(1)
  Process: 1011 ExecStart=/usr/bin/nm-online -s -q --timeout=30 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
 Main PID: 1011 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
   CGroup: /system.slice/NetworkManager-wait-online.service

Jul 30 17:22:12 systemd[1]: Starting Network Manager Wait Online...
Jul 30 17:22:20 systemd[1]: Started Network Manager Wait Online.
Let's see what happens after reboot.

Edit: The fix worked. No avahi complaints. Could we implement this @Arjen ?

2. colord failed to get session: No such device or address

Code: Select all

sudo service colord status
● colord.service - Manage, Install and Generate Color Profiles
   Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/colord.service; static; vendor preset: enabled)
   Active: active (running) since Mon 2018-07-30 17:22:12 CEST; 1h 2min ago
 Main PID: 1036 (colord)
   CGroup: /system.slice/colord.service
           └─1036 /usr/lib/colord/colord

ubuntu bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1442050
I've never used samba printer sharing and I've never used color profiles but I deactivated printer sharing anyways as explained here https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic. ... #p1231018 but I'm not sure I did it right. It did not work.
Having printer sharing enabled seems to be an additional security risk (as is any running service that is not needed) so I would like to deactivate it correctly. Can anyone help?

3. udev-acl.ck[2445]: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed
Apparently this bug https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo ... bug=846320 with no fix available.

4. alsa-restore failed

Code: Select all

systemd-udevd[417]: Process '/usr/sbin/alsactl -E HOME=/run/alsa restore 1' failed with exit code 99.
systemd-udevd[425]: Process '/usr/sbin/alsactl -E HOME=/run/alsa restore 0' failed with exit code 99
Maybe this fix https://community.chakralinux.org/t/how ... de-99/7047? Anybody understands what this is about?

I could let solydxk-system check for the "After=network-online.target" line and insert it with sed if it isn't.

[Edit]
I forgot solydxk-system has a function to overwrite files with a template. That's the easiest approach: no need to develop new functionality.

SolydXK needs you!
