[Solved] Wifi disabled by hardware switch

Postby gazza » 06 Aug 2017 22:37

solydx_9_64_201707.iso downloaded 07/08/17 sha verified, dd to usb && sync
Laptop Compaq CQ60
Network: Card-2: Qualcomm Atheros AR242x / AR542x Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) driver: ath5k

Booted the usb and tried to connect wifi with the following error "wifi disabled by hardware switch". Never had this before. No amount of on/off on the wifi button worked. Found the following on the internet.

Code: Select all

sudo rfkill unblock wifi

Just sharing an issue and its' solution.

Don't be afraid to open a separate thread. The issue had nothing to do with the new ISOs. I split off this topic in case somebody else has the same problem and looks for a solution.

Thanks ilu for putting it where it should be. I posted it for that very reason, as my search of the forum came up blank
