Network Manager OpenVPN crashes

Postby wasabinut » 16 May 2014 19:08

Hello folks,

I want to import an OpenVPN connection via Network Manager in SolydX.

network-manager-openvpn is installed. However, I get the error message: "unknown PPTP file extension."
When I install network-manager-openvpn-gnome, import my .ovpn file, then I don't get an error message but nothing happens (I guess the Network Manager crashes). I know OpenVPN is NOT working.

I didn't have the problem in Ubunut 12.04 distros but I have the same problem in Ubuntu 14.04 distros. I think it's a bug.

(Is the Ubuntu 14.04 distro based on the same Debian distro as SolydXK? I'm a newbie.)

Any idea on how to establish an OpenVPN connection? Thanks a lot.

I have the same problem, I changed the file NetworkManager.conf with managed=true but the problem is still there.

can you post contents of your .ovpn file? Obviously hide your personal details - server name, cert. names etc...

hmm ... that looks fine

try to comment out the line with tls and try again, if not, look into syslog whether you can actually see any openvpn entries and finally try to create that connection in network manager manualy, i.e start netmanager editor via the "Edit Connections" button and create a new openvpn connection, locate certificates and try to connect
