Finding a network manager for wifi

Postby patzy » 07 Mar 2015 00:59

I have a friend who now has SolydX 32bit on his rather ancient laptop.
Everything works but the wifi - he can get on line plugging into the modem, but he wants to use the thing anywhere in the house.
Is there another network manager I can try, if so how do I install it?
Please help!

The wretched thing worked ok with MS XP..... :x

You can try wicd.
You will need a wired connection to do this or download the needed packages from a connected machine.

Don't forget to purge network-manager before you install wicd. They don't work well together.

Code: Select all

sudo apt purge network-manager*
sudo apt install wicd

SolydXK needs you!

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
