System adjustments

Postby Arjen Balfoort » 22 Mar 2013 11:35

I just uploaded the new system adjustments packages:
  • solydx-system-adjustments
  • solydk-system-adjustments
This fixes the following issues: The changes made in these packages will only affect new users.

For existing users you need to follow these steps for Thunderbird: http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?p=2672#p2672
and for the SolydX file association: http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?p=2754#p2754

I've noticed an annoying bug in the updates to solydk-system-adjustments: Every time I get an update I have to reset prefs for:
*Widget style
*Colors (possible, not as certain as I am of the others)
*Icons
*Fonts
*Login Screen (both the auto login pref and excluded users)

Some changes are noticed as soon as I apply the update, some show up after a restart. Is there any way to get updates without having to go through and reset so many of my prefs, or at least backup my prefs before the upgrade and restore them afterward?

ETA: One other change comes through every time I update the system adjustments: I have to tell KDE that I wan Google Chrome to be the default web browser.

ETA2: I forgot one: Navigating with a single click gets disabled as well. This is set in Dolphin but is a system-wide setting. And most of the changes I specified can be set before rebooting but have to be redone after a reboot. Grrr.

Changing that will take a lot of time.
The logic is inherited from LM, and that means I have to re-write the way these packages work.
That's a task for after the next UP.

interesting, i got that update at 12h30 GMT, shut off the computer half an hour after and turn it on now at 00h20 GMT and all my tweaks are preserved (and they are a few)

Code: Select all

Start-Date: 2013-03-22 12:29:41
Commandline: /usr/sbin/synaptic --hide-main-window --non-interactive --parent-window-id 81789033 -o Synaptic::closeZvt=true --progress-str Please wait, this can take some time --finish-str Update is complete --set-selections-file /tmp/tmpBwO0EP
Upgrade: solydk-system-adjustments:amd64 (1.0.3, 1.0.4)
End-Date: 2013-03-22 12:29:53
bliss of ignorance

Hmm. I'll have to make a note to try this with the next upgrade.
