USB Creator don't recognize usb stick

Postby Desmoric » 18 Nov 2018 10:25

Hi,

I wish to make a multiboot usb key with usb creator but the software don't recognize any usb key ! I tried also with another software : multibbotusb. No usb key available to write iso on it too !

It seems to be a problem with the usb access while I can read / write on the usb keys with Thunar (SolydX, up to date).

What could be the problem ?

Regards

There's no way anybody can answer that question like this. You forgot to mention what ISOs you were using and we'd like to see the terminal output of the program(s) you used.

For example: open a terminal in SolydX/K and run the command:

Code: Select all

usb-creator
and try to create a multi-boot USB.

I run usb-creator command in a terminal and, after authentification, returns

Code: Select all

(main.py:13833): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error: gtk.css:337:24: Invalid name of pseudo-class
Create list store eval string: Gtk.ListStore(bool, GdkPixbuf.Pixbuf, str, str, int, int)
Create column names: ['Column 0', 'Column 1', 'Column 2', 'Column 3']
Create column: Gtk.TreeViewColumn("Column 0", Gtk.CellRendererToggle(), active=0)
Column added: Column 0
Create column: Gtk.TreeViewColumn("Column 1", Gtk.CellRendererPixbuf(), pixbuf=1)
Column added: Column 1
Create column: Gtk.TreeViewColumn("Column 2", Gtk.CellRendererText(), text=2, weight=4, size=5)
Column added: Column 2
Create column: Gtk.TreeViewColumn("Column 3", Gtk.CellRendererText(), text=3, weight=4, size=5)
Column added: Column 3
A usb key is mounted, but no possibility to access it to write any iso.

There's nothing wrong with the output.
I'm afraid you'll have to try another USB.

Well, actually I have the same problem.
I'd like to burn the new solydk201901 64 bit ISO, but no devices are listed in the window.
I formatted the usb-stick too but no chance to burn it. The field always remains grey and does not offer any option.
Refresh device list has no effect.

I used to burn thanks to Solydxk USB-Creator without problems, using the same USB stick.

Since now it doesn't work I have burned it successfully with Linux Mint.

Please check it.
Thanks!

I'm on SolydX and I can't reproduce this. Your USB stick may be bad. Does lsusb recognize it?

Yes, otherwise the usb stick works without any problem. In Solydk as well as in Linux Mint, Win7, etc.

Since different users reported it, I'm pretty sure we have an issue with Usb Creator.

I won't have time for the next couple of weeks but in the mean time, could you post back the output of:

Code: Select all

udisksctl dump
Please, only post the output relevant to your USB device.

While Arjen sorts out the USB Disk Creator you can always create a USB memory stick with the iso installed on it with the following command

Code: Select all

sudo dd if=~/solydk_9_64_201803.iso of=/dev/sdx bs=64k oflag=dsync status=progress
You will need to change the name of the iso in the above code to the name of the iso you downloaded and change /dev/sdx to the correct /dev/sd of your memory stick

This will then copy the iso over to the memroy stick in a bootable format

This information is obtainable on the SolydXK Download page

I have a new version in testing.
You can also download the deb directly: https://repository.solydxk.com/pool/tes ... .9_all.deb

After installing, run usb-creator from the terminal and post back the output here.
