Fresh install

Postby paulbarton » 13 Jul 2018 11:00

Hi I've been a user and supporter of Solydxk for more years than i can remember and my system is now returning some errors because I've probably installed some software at some time. How do I go about doing a fresh install to get back to the best state. I've some experience but not much.
Regards Paul

1. Backup your data and /home and maybe /etc.
2. Download the latest ISO from https://solydxk.com/downloads and verify the download.
3. Boot up the live system
4. Decide about partitions (my recommendation would be to use a separate partition for data and maybe 20 gb spare place for a second sytem if you can afford that)
5. Install
6. Configure your system using your old home backup as a reference - don't blindly copy everything, because some configs might have changed (depends on how old your install was)
